After a few years’ break The Arts Unit primary debating workshop returned to the school calendar last Friday. Here, over 4,200 students across NSW participated in a full day of training with some of the state’s most senior adjudicators and coaches. Gundagai Public School representatives: Bella Amos, Tilly Eade, Amelia Kerr, Chase Polsen, Clayton Rainbow, Kaylee Rose, Xanthe Shannon, and Grace Wheaton, travelled to Wagga to take part in the workshop.
They learned about debating techniques such as: rebuttal, arguments, definitions and speakers' roles. The day also included a chance for every single student to deliver a short debating speech and get some feedback. The was a great way for our students to learn more about debating and hear from the people who will be adjudicating the finals of the Premier's Debating Challenge in 2023.
