Gundagai Public School is thrilled to be one of 32 schools selected to participate in the NSW Space Discovery program, an exciting initiative leading up to the 76th International Astronautical Congress in Sydney. This program is a collaboration between the Andy Thomas Space Foundation and Makers Empire, and is supported by the NSW Government through the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade.
Last week, our Year 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to participate in an engaging, interactive lesson with the Australian Space Agency. They learned about the solar system, designed their own models, and had their space-related questions answered by industry professionals.
This lesson is part of the broader NSW Space Discovery program, which is based on the successful Kids in Space program. Throughout the 2024/2025 school years, 16 schools will take part each semester. Our students are using the innovative Makers Empire digital platform to explore space technology, history, and future career opportunities in the space industry.
Thanks to support from the NSW Government through the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Gundagai Public School is proudly contributing to this fantastic educational initiative!
